Cryo-Electron Microscopy Facility

Platform name

Cryo-Electron Microscopy Facility

Platform leader

Dr. Jun Zhao

Key Facilities

This facility provides critical electron microscopy facility service for Peking University Institute of Advanced Agricultural Sciences. Additionally, the Cryo-Electron Microscopy Facility provides the technical support for single particle, electron tomography, and cell/tissue biology research.

At present, the platform is equipped with three electron microscopes, including Talos 120C for negative staining, one medium Glacios (200kV) and one Titan Krios (300kV) with a K3 direct electron detector and a BioQuantum energy filter. The facility also provides related sample preparation instruments including: light microscope fluorescent CorrSight; high pressure freezing; plunge freezing Vitrobot; freeze-substitution AFS; cryo-ultramicrotomy; and a plasma cleaning system. In addition, the platform has a set of high-performance computer clusters for image data storage, processing and reconstruction, offering services to cover the entire Cryo-EM workflow.
