In 2022, the Institute/provincial laboratory was granted approval for the establishment of 3 critical laboratories in Weifang, namely, "Weifang Key Laboratory for Molecular Design Breeding and Strip Intercropping of Soybeans and Maize", "Weifang Key Laboratory for Grape Germplasm Innovation and Utilization", and "Weifang Key Laboratory for Functional Foods Utilizing Medicinal and Edible Resources". Now, the number of Weifang Municipal key laboratories being built based on the Institute/provincial laboratory has increased to 5. In order to stimulate the scientific research of young staff and promote the implementation of critical projects, 10 Dean's Fund projects have been established. Additionally, active efforts have been made in applying for various scientific and technological projects, hosting or co-participating in 48 provincial and higher-level scientific research projects and 8 municipal-level research projects.
