Recently, the research team led by Professor Shisheng Chen from the Peking University Institute of Advanced Agricultural Sciences, along with their collaborators, published a research paper in the internationally renowned journal Nature Communications. The paper, entitled "Cloning of the wheat leaf rust resistance gene Lr47 introgressed from Aegilops speltoides", has successfully cloned the broad-spectrum leaf rust resistance gene Lr47, which originates from wheat's relative species Aegilops speltoides. The team has also developed a new short segment translocation series, thereby promoting the utilization of this gene in breeding.
