On November 17, 2023, Professors Li Guo and Shisheng Chen's teams at the Peking University Institute of Advanced Agricultural Sciences published a research paper titled "A near-complete genome sequence of einkorn wheat provides insight into the evolution of wheat A subgenomes" in Plant Communications (DOI: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.xplc.2023.100768).

The study sequenced a highly homozygous cultivated einkorn wheat material PI 306540, subsequently assembling a high-quality, near-complete genome. Comparative genomics analysis revealed the evolutionary history of the wheat A genome. Furthermore, the genome facilitated the examination of rust resistance genes, Yr34 and LrPI119435, originating from einkorn wheat.
