On December 14, 2023, the Crop Epigenetics Group from the Peking University Institute of Advanced Agricultural Sciences, in collaboration with the Yingxiang Wang Laboratory from South China Agricultural University, published a research paper in Plant Cell titled "The MBD-ACD methylation reader complex recruits MICRORCHIDIA6 to regulate rRNA gene expression in Arabidopsis". This study identified a protein complex that recognizes DNA methylation, and demonstrated that this protein complex regulates the expression of the 45S rRNA gene in Arabidopsis by recruiting MORC6.
