Grapevine Improvement and Utilization
Principal Investigator
Research Objectives
l Grapevine improvement and utilization
Grapevine is the oldest domesticated fruit crop with great cultural and economic importance across the globe. Our team is dedicated to the understanding of grapevine biology and the sustainability of the grape industry for human society by 1) cutting-edge research on grapevine genomics and functional genomics behind important traits, 2) generation of new germplasms with state-of-the-art biotechnologies, and 3) innovation in viticulture and postharvest utilization.
l Stomatal biology and technology
Stomata are microscopic pores in the plant shoot epidermis and play an important role in plant gas exchange, such as transpirational water loss and CO2 uptake for photosynthesis, and warding off pathogens. A major goal of our research is to elucidate the mechanism behind stomatal responses to environmental cues and develop chemical and genetic strategies to manipulate stomata for improving crop performance, thus contributing to agricultural sustainability.
