From January 20 to 21, 2024, the Annual Meeting of the National Key Laboratory of Wheat Breeding for the year 2023 was held in Tai'an. Leaders and wheat researchers from Shandong Agricultural University, Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Shandong Laboratory of Advanced Agricultural Sciences in Weifang/Peking University Institute of Advanced Agricultural Sciences participated in the meeting.

Eighteen key members of the wheat research team, including Xing Wang Deng, Xingping Zhang, Yuehui He, Shisheng Chen, Hang He, Huawei Zhang, Jian Li, Bo Wei, Yifeng Hou, Shikui Song, and Lihua Zhao, from the Shandong Laboratory of Advanced Agricultural Sciences in Weifang/Peking University Institute of Advanced Agricultural Sciences, attended the meeting.

 

 

Xinping Zhang, Yuehui He, Shisheng Chen, and Huawei Zhang, and Bo Wei presented their progress reports on "Identification and Improvement of Wheat Heterotic Pools", "Resetting of 'Vernalization Memory' in Winter Wheat and the Molecular Mechanism of Winter Character Reconstruction in Offspring", "Mining and Cloning of Disease Resistance Genes from Wheat Related Species", "Deep Gene Evolution Mediated by Base Editing", and "Development and Application of Whole Genome Introgression Lines from Chinese Unique Wheat Subspecies", respectively.

This annual meeting showcased a magnificent academic feast, providing a platform for face-to-face exchange and interaction for members of the wheat research field from the three co-founded institutions. It played a beneficial role in promoting the future construction and development of the laboratory.
