On the afternoon of May 24th, the 12-day 2024 Molecular Breeding Academy (MBA) concluded successfully. The graduation ceremony was attended by Dr. Xing Wang Deng, the Director of the Peking University Institute of Advanced Agricultural Sciences, Deputy Director Xingping Zhang, Instructor Yunbi Xu, as well as the participants of the training program. Dr. Zhang presided over the ceremony.

 

Before the ceremony, Dean Xing Wang Deng delivered a keynote presentation titled "Third Generation Hybrid Breeding Techniques in Rice," highlighting the significant progress achieved in the development of third-generation hybridization techniques in rice. Dr. Deng's special lecture added valuable enrichment to the MBA curriculum, and he also took the time to address the students' questions individually.

 

 

 

During the graduation ceremony, Research Professor Yunbi XU began by providing a retrospective summary of the entire teaching process and weekend research activities of the training program. This allowed the participants to revisit the breeding theories and techniques taught during the two-week MBA training, as well as reminisce about the wonderful moments shared by the MBA2024 class. With exquisite photos and detailed recollections, Xu shared a captivating journey of the MBA program, leaving everyone with a sense of nostalgia and delightful memories.

 

Subsequently, student representatives took the stage and delivered impromptu speeches, expressing their sentiments about the training program. They shared how the MBA experience had enhanced their understanding, refreshed their perspectives, enriched their professional knowledge, and allowed them to forge meaningful connections with like-minded individuals. They expressed their hopes for more opportunities in the future to engage in research exchanges within the field of molecular breeding, aiming to contribute further to the advancement of high-quality agricultural development.

 

Based on the results of two assessments and considering their overall performance throughout the training period, the following individuals have been awarded as Outstanding Students: Yufen Che, Breeding Manager for Asia at Japan Miktodo Company; Xuebin Wang, Senior Associate Breeder at Shenyang Guyu Seed Industry Co., Ltd.; Xinyi Xu, R&D Director at Suzhou Lasso Biosensor Technology Co., Ltd.; and Zongxian Yang, Field Manager at Knownyou Seed Co., Ltd. The presentation of Outstanding Student Awards is one of the cherished traditions of the MBA program.

 

Deputy Director Xingping Zhang and Research Professor Yunbi Xu presented graduation certificates to each of the successful participants in the Molecular Breeding Training Program.
